Tasting Note 91/100
This is fresh and engaging, with firm but lively singed alder and apple wood notes framing a core of plum, red currant and steeped black cherry fruit. Offers pepper and tobacco hints on the grippy finish. This will need a touch of cellaring to round into form. Best from 2015 through 2028. 4,000 cases made. –JM
This final blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and the rest split between Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot tips the scales at 14.5% natural alcohol. Sweet black currant fruit intermixed with cedar wood, licorice and some spice give this wine beautiful aromatics, as one should expect from a Margaux, medium to full body, silky tannins and a long finish. This is definitely a sleeper of the vintage and still underpriced for a classified growth from Margaux. Drink it over the next 15 years.
