Winery and Terroir
Domaine Vincent Girardin has earned international acclaim for its rigorous vineyard practices and minimal intervention winemaking. The Old Vines cuvée comes from parcels in the prestigious Puligny-Montrachet appellation, characterized by chalky soils that impart a signature flinty minerality.
Tasting Notes
The 2020 Puligny-Montrachet Old Vines opens with bright aromas of lemon zest, fresh pear, and white blossoms. On the palate, it unfolds with notes of ripe orchard fruit, hazelnut, and sweet brioche, balanced by a steely structure and a long, saline finish.
Winemaking Details
Vine Age and Yield
Vines average 60–80 years of age. Low yields ensure intense concentration and complexity.
Fermentation and Aging
Gravity-fed fermentation in French oak barrels (30% new) followed by 12 months of lees aging adds texture and nuance.
Food Pairing
This elegant Chardonnay pairs beautifully with grilled sea bass, truffle risotto, and Brie de Meaux. It also complements creamy soups and poultry with herb-infused sauces.
