Château Meyney Grand Vin Saint-Estèphe

A neighbor of Château Montrose, the vineyard of Château Meyney covers around fifty hectares in one piece. The vineyard is planted on Garonne gravel soils with a notable particularity. A vein of blue clay 3 meters thick, such as that found on the Château Pétrus terroir, is buried in the subsoil.

The vintage

The gloomy and rainy conditions of spring required many efforts to protect the vineyard from disease and preserve its sanitary condition. From the end of August, a real Indian summer sets in until the end of October. This dry and sunny climate is ideal for ensuring optimum ripeness of the grapes.

Vinification and aging

Once the manual harvest has been completed, the grapes are sorted twice, first manually and then optically. The grapes are then vinified on a piece-by-plot basis. After the cold pre-fermentation macerations, the alcoholic fermentation begins. Vatting for approximately 30 days before running off. Some of the wines undergo malolactic fermentation in new barrels. Château Meyney 2014 is aged in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new wood.
Assembly

This Château Meyney 2014 is made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), supplemented by Merlot (30%) and Petit Verdot (15%).
