About Côte-Rôtie La Turque
Crafted by the legendary Maison Guigal, La Turque is sourced from a single parcel of steep, schist-rich vineyards in Côte-Rôtie. Regarded as one of the esteemed “La‐La” wines (alongside La Mouline and La Landonne), La Turque strikes a masterful balance between power, aromatic complexity, and elegance.
Tasting Notes
Appearance: Deep ruby with garnet hues.
Aroma: Intense bouquet of ripe blackberries, black olives, violets, smoked bacon, and graphite.
Palate: Concentrated dark fruit layers, peppered spice, leather, and mineral undertones, culminating in firm yet velvety tannins.
Winemaking
Fermented with 20% whole clusters in stainless steel before extended maceration. Aged for 42 months in new French oak barrels, followed by additional bottle ageing to ensure seamless integration of oak and fruit.
Food Pairing & Aging Potential
Pairs exquisitely with roasted game birds, braised short ribs, and earthy mushroom dishes. While approachable after 5–7 years, this wine truly shines with 10–30 years of cellaring, revealing tertiary notes of truffle, tobacco, and balsamic nuances.
