Puligny-Montrachet

Puligny-Montrachet is located on the Côte de Beaune, in Burgundy, south of Meursault, in the Côte-d'Or department, as well as in part of the Hameau de Blagny. Its name is mentioned as early as 312, through a disciple of Eumenes, who wrote the first known description of the vineyard. It has been classified since 1937 among the communal appellations of the Côte de Beaune vineyard. There are two types of appellation: Puligny-Montrachet whose vineyard area is a hundred hectares and Puligny-Montrachet premier cru which constitutes one hectare.The dominant grape variety in red wine is Pinot Noir. For white wines, Chardonnay or Pinot Blanc are used.These are very famous white wines with a strong personality.
