Overview
Produced by the esteemed Maison Louis Latour in Burgundy, Marsannay Rouge is sourced from vineyards located on the northernmost tip of the Côte de Nuits. The grapes thrive on unique limestone and marl soils, yielding a wine of elegance and purity. Each vintage reflects the cool climate of Marsannay, delivering finesse and aromatic lift.
Tasting Notes
Aroma
Bright red cherries, wild raspberries, and a delicate veil of rose petal and woodland spice. Hints of crushed stone and forest floor add complexity.
Palate
Medium-bodied with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a core of red fruit flavors. Subtle notes of clove and smoked tea emerge toward the finish, leaving a fresh, mineral-tinged lingering aftertaste.
Vinification
Grapes are hand-harvested and sorted before gentle destemming. Native yeasts drive the fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wine matures for 12–14 months in French oak barrels (30% new) to enhance texture and aromatic complexity without overpowering the fruit.
Food Pairing
Pairs wonderfully with roasted chicken, duck breast with berry sauces, wild mushrooms risotto, and soft-rind cheeses like Brie or Camembert. Its balanced acidity also complements richer fish dishes such as salmon en papillote.
Serving Recommendations
Decant for 30–45 minutes to allow the wine to open up. Serve at 16–18 °C in a large-bowled red glass to concentrate the aromatics.
