E. Guigal Condrieu is a benchmark white wine from the AOC Condrieu in the northern Rhône Valley of France. Made exclusively from Viognier grapes, this wine showcases the unique granite soils and microclimates of the region. Roasted almond soils combined with steep slopes and warm sunrays contribute to the grape’s expressive fruit character and aromatic intensity. The 100% hand-harvested Viognier undergoes a gentle whole-cluster pressing and cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve its primary fruit aromas. After fermentation, the wine matures on fine lees for several months, gaining creamy texture and complexity without the influence of new oak.
On the nose, expect lush aromas of apricot, ripe peach, honeysuckle, wild herbs, and a touch of honey. The palate is rich and round, with flavors of stone fruit, orange blossom, and candied ginger, framed by refreshing acidity and a long, minerally finish. With moderate alcohol and balanced structure, this Condrieu can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for up to 7–10 years to reveal further layers of complexity.
Serve chilled at 10–12 °C in large bowl white wine glasses to concentrate the wine’s aromatic profile. Pair with seared scallops, lobster in butter sauce, roast chicken, creamy risottos, or soft goat cheeses to enhance its floral and fruity nuances.
