Enjoying a prime location that establishes it as one of the premier terroirs of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Château la Nerthe boasts an 88-hectare vineyard with clay soil enriched by rounded pebbles. Clos de Beauvenir is a limited-production wine made from Roussanne and Clairette grapes grown on the grounds surrounding the centuries-old Château. It is a wine for fine dining and celebrations.
Winemaking
The grapes are harvested by hand and then sorted to remove underripe fruit. They are then pressed to extract the finest juice. The Roussanne grapes ferment in 228-liter barrels (one-third new oak) and are aged on their fine lees to enhance the complexity and finesse of this age-worthy wine. The blend is assembled shortly before bottling.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, aromas of brioche, honeysuckle, citrus, and white flowers hint at a complex wine. On the palate, ripe fruit with honeyed notes and a pronounced acidity confirm the exceptional nature of this vintage. The finish is beautifully long with hints of almond and walnut.
