About Guigal’s La Landonne
Vineyard & Terroir
Perched on steep, schist-rich terraces along the Rhône River, the La Landonne vineyard yields tiny berries brimming with concentrated flavors. The southern exposure and poor soils stress the vines, enhancing depth and minerality in the grapes.
Winemaking
Grapes are 100% hand-harvested and fermented as whole clusters over 21 days, maximizing extraction. The wine is then aged for 18–24 months in 100% new French oak barrels, refining its structure and aromatic complexity.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in color, La Landonne opens with powerful aromas of blackberry, black plum, smoked meat and exotic spices. The palate offers layered dark fruit, graphite, roasted coffee and a backbone of firm, fine-grained tannins, culminating in an impressively long, savory finish.
Food Pairing & Cellaring
Serve alongside braised short ribs, game birds, venison or strong, aged cheeses. Although approachable upon release, this wine will continue to evolve gracefully for 10–30 years, developing added complexity and harmony.
