Frédéric Magnien represents the fifth generation of winemakers in his family. With experience abroad and a degree in oenology, he established his own wine merchant business in 1995.
In the Burgundian dialect, "Charmes" refers to former common fields that have been cultivated and then reverted to fallow, or to wasteland covered in hornbeam woods. The Mazoyères vineyard, meaning "little houses," is planted on soil whose complexity provides an ideal foundation for this full-bodied, robust, and structured wine.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested and rigorously sorted. They are not crushed; instead, the wine is transferred to vats by gravity, with manual punch-downs during alcoholic fermentation. The wine is then aged in oak barrels.
