Frédéric Magnien is part of a fifth generation of a long line of winemakers. He learned the basics of the trade from his father. Seeking to deepen his knowledge, he trained in the United States with Josh Jensen at Domaine Calera and in Australia with Garry Farr at Bannockburn Vineyard. He began managing Domaine Michel Magnien in 1993. At the same time, he continued his studies, eventually earning a degree in Oenology from the University of Burgundy. While previously the harvest was sold to a cooperative, he decided to produce the wine on the estate. He also ensures the purity of his wines by using no chemical products on his vineyard.
